Question Most Things: 'The ABCs Of Happiness'

Dear friend

Are you the 'questioning type' of person? In Robert Valet's The ABCs Of Happiness, he prescribes for letter Q - "Question most things."

I happen to be this type of person who questions most things: For example, if someone has said something that was unclear to me, I ask what was said and what it really meant, or - if I understood correctly what I heard or what it was really meant to be. By so doing, I keep my inner peace and maintain my happiness when clarity prevails. No question marks hanging in the air. Then, I could move on with my business and say at the end - "Yes...that's what I meant,"..."That's what I wanted to know....," "Exactly what I thought!"

I find it very difficult for me to deal with people who try to appear they understand things when in fact they don't, and try to absorb everything in their minds like a soaked sponge but never understood a thing or, even if they have doubts, they never open their mouths to ask a question and, when they come to a crunch, get messed up and go in a state of confusion and don't know what to say; their ONLY OPTION is to blame the nearest person who is with them or closest to them. They never take accountability for their shortcomings - NEVER! Their minds are too little to accept responsibility for the misunderstandings or errors they find themselves in.These negative and annoying instances easily rob off your moments of happiness when they could readily be avoided.

Also, another tip to maintain YOUR personal happiness is to be ASSERTIVE, for once. Speak your mind; say what you think or believe whether the listener accepts what you say or not. Speak your TRUTH the best way you can. Say what is in the bottom of your heart, if you need to. I find that being vocal with my opinions, thoughts and ideas eliminate the gap of misunderstanding and useless arguments and waste of time and energy on all parties concerned.

Sometimes - or many times - people are unable to think rationally and can not see the other side of the coin or the point of discussion because plainly, they refuse to think and use their brains. If you can think rationally, that's also your other tip in The ABCs of Happiness, according to Robert Valet.

I would suggest that you train your minds to "Question most things." It is worth the effort and worth your happiness. Start it NOW!

The 5th Global Filipino Networking Convention

The 5th Global Filipino Networking Convention (GFNC)
Sydney, Australia

I attended as Delegate from the State of Queensland, Australia the 5th Global Filipino Networking Convention (GFNC) in Sydney, Australia on the 6th-8th September 2007. The Convention focused on the opportunity to forge meaningful partnerships, sharing of views, hopes and visions of the future over 8 million Filipinos dispersed across the globe.

The 5th GFNC was run side-by-side with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Summit where H.E Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo together with other 20 heads of government discussed issues of our future directions for the region.

GFNC is an International gathering of Filipino community leaders held for the first time in Sydney, Australia; the Purpose of which is to empower Filipinos all over the world. GFNC celebrates the accomplishments of Filipinos and discusses issues of importance to Filipinos in the Diaspora. Hence, the GFNC increases the profile of the Philippines globally.

The Organisers for the 5th GFNC were The Filipino Communities Council of Australia (FILCCA), the Philippine Community Council of Australia, New South Wales (PCC-NSW), and the Global Filipino Australia (GFA).

The Theme of GFNC is "Fair Go for Filipino Empowerment." The Topic Sessions discussed, examined and expounded on the socio-economic and political entitlement due to overseas Filipinos. "Organising and harnessing the political and socio-economic power of global Filipinos through networking is the most effective way to bring us all together to share our individual and collective experiences", Lolita Castillo Farmer OAM, Co-Chair, 5th GFNC said. In the words of Co-Chair Malyn Andres Chun, Pres. of FILCCA commented that it is "indeed very appropriate because it will give us a chance to show what 'Pinoy[Filipino]Power' has to offer."

Global Filipinos stand together, strive together and pursue our common goals together. Global Filipinos are able to draw from each other's strength and compensate for each other's weaknesses.

Australian-Filipinos are poised to become active players and leaders in engaging fellow overseas in the global discourse of empowerment for development.

The GFNC milestone event was born in San Francisco, California in 2002, moved to Manila and Cebu, then crossed the Pacific Ocean again in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2006. It is therefore the first time that this Convention was held in another location (now Sydney, Australia) other than Philippines and the USA.

Make Your Travel Happy, Healthy and Safe

Dear Friends

How have you all been? I hope for those receiving my regular newsletters, you have been practising your tips to happiness in your life according to those tips you are receiving.

Anyway, when you are busy and yet enjoying life, you seem to forget how time flies so quick. Looking at my last blog update tells me I am a bit behind. The month of August and September to me seems to be quiete a travelling time for business, pleasure and at the same time investing in myself.

Having said that, the travel season for schoolers will come soon in late September this year when they will have their semestral holidays - especially in Australian schools. This means that the travel season is upon these forthcoming weeks, in spite of the superior expenditure of fuel, and as a record number of people will be on the move. Travellers will be bearing out for vacations at resorts and parks or at pleasant or healthy places, where they can just calm down and get away from it all for a while.

Before hitting the open road, there are safety precautions you need to take to make sure your trip will be happy, healthy and safe one.

Here are some travel saftety tips. Most people take only their cars in for a mechanical check-up before a lengthy drive, but it is just as important to make sure your car is in the best condition possible for trips around town, particularly in the wintertime.

Regular safeguarding and prompt attention to a car's troubling behaviour can keep you moving no matter where you may be headed.

Standard maintenance and prompt attention to a car's disconcerting behaviour can keep you moving where you may be headed. Not only is it important to have an auxiliary tire, but the proper tools to change that auxiliary. If you don't think you can handle the job yourself, a membership in an automobile club is essential. If your health benefits do not cover out-of-network services or if you take a prescription drug, you might want to consider purschasing a short-term supplemental plan to cover these essentials at your holiday destination. If you are travelling with children, take a close look at their health benefits coverage. Since kids have developing immune suystems and may be more likely to get sick, ensure they are covered for medical care and prescrition drugs under current health benefits.

Below is a travel checklist to reveiew before packing your child's bag. Ask your pediatrician to make a referral for a pediatrician at your travel destination.

Find the name and location of a children's hospital at your destination, print directions and carry them with you. Bring at least your child's health hisroty including any allergioes and current medications. Though rumoured to be expensive, especially on a fixed income, there are many plans that enable you to purchase the phone and a certain number of minutes, all for one low prices. Make sure you keep your phone cxharged and have an adapter for your car's cigarette lighter that will allow you an alternate source of power for your phonem but proper continuation, you will be able to cut those chances significantly.

Happy travelling! Be healthy and safe!

Sleep Is Vital To Your Health and Happiness

Getting enough sleep could be a problem that many of us experience.

To some, they just couldn't be bothered. They feel that a good night's sleep just comes very natural to them – no effort, no problem, no concern at all.

There is no doubt that numerous people struggle with the problem of lack of sleep and now it is becoming a health problem but also, the cause of many road accidents especially.

I was reading Dr. Timothy Sharp's book The Good Sleep Guide "aimed at not only those who suffer from a lack of sleep, but also people who want to sleep better, without resorting to pills."

Dr. Sharp engages in individual consultation and group programs for more than a decade where he has been helping people with psychological and medical problems.

In Dr. Sharp's observation, he says that many of us are so tired and points the finger largely at "lifestyle" as the factor for tiredness. He comments that "work is changing and people are working longer hours, staying more time at the office and not having enough exercise." On the other hand, he adds that the good news is - people are aware of the problem and what can be done about it.

Dr Sharp puts emphasis on the "role of diet and exercise, the management of time and stress and looks at relaxation strategies as part of the overall approach to establishing a good sleep routine."

His book mentions tips for shiftworkers, how to deal with traveller's jetlag and also the arrival of a baby.

So those who suffer tossing themselves in bed at night, Dr. Sharp's book offers some 10 STEPS TO GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP: One – Understand the need for sleep; Two – Make sleep a priority; Three – Watch your diet; Four - Exercise and be active; Five - Learn to relax; Six - Sort out your sleep routine; Seven - Organise your time; Eight - Develop healthy thinking and control worry; Nine - Deal with other problems; Ten - Persevere and practice.

Work towards achieving good sleep. It is vital to your health and to your personal happiness.

Exercise frequently. That's one secret to your health and personal happiness.

Change, Happiness, Success And Our Core Values

The saying that "change is the only constant thing in this world" holds profound meaning in every sense of the word. Backed by this universal truth is also the dictum that there is no such thing as 'forever'. However, amidst all these acclaimed universal truths, there are things in this world that stay eternal: Our Core Values.

NEWSFLASH!!!! Children In Britain "Taught How To Be Happy"

Dear Friends

I hope you continue everyday to pursue your inner peace and happiness.

Happiness is such a vital factor in our daily life; so vital that even elementary and secondary youngsters in Britain are NOW being "taught how to be happy". True? Yes, indeed! In the International Express Newspaper(29 May 2007) issue which i was about to throw in the rubbish bin, I came across this amazing and intriguing news that has caught my interest.

So in Britain apparently, the "SCHEME to help some of Britain's most underpriveledged children to find happiness is to be rolled out across the country." Three years ago, the Morpeth Road Primary School in Blyth, Northumberland was struggling with poor attendance and behaviour. Now, the youngsters are taught to work at school and they get a lot of fun! The so-called "emotion lessons" have proven to be a success in the trials, according to the teachers hence, they have hailed them as miracle.

Teachers give the youngsters exercises to show them how to tackle problems, talk to each other properly, and how to make up after a failing out - alongside lessons in old-fashioned manners. This to me sounds interesting and encouraging for growing children. Learning new skills while young will give them a better life in the future to look forward to.

And results? It led to a dramatic improvement of academic achievement, attendance and behaviour of the classes. Their social skills improved by extended lunch hours where they sit round the tables to eat and chat with adults about a variety of topics which further improved their understanding as well as boosting their morale.

Proud of such an achievement, Headmaster Mike Bell believes that the Social And Emotional Aspects Of Learning (SEAL) Program was indeed "pivotal" in turning his school around.

The school adopted a house system patterened after the current phenomenal Harry Potter-style "houses" dividing children into three to help them with a sense of belonging and giving them a constant houseteacher to help them with pastoral care. Mr. Bell said that most of their kids come with some sort of baggage as the area is a disadvantaged area, therefore the staff are qualified in "emotional intelligence", Mr. Bell said.

The essential issue of the happiness of school children has taken their Government by storm and their Ministers believe that "social and emotional intelligence" classes will help stop children from becoming "louts" (rough, rude, violent persons). Further recommendation is to urge all secondary schools to put them in timetables for 11 to 14-year olds. This is indeed a novel idea, don't you think so, my dear and valued friends?

Helen Keller said: "Life is either a daring adventure... or nothing."

Guard your happiness and live a life that matters!

THAILAND: A Place Of People Full of Joy and Smiles

Dear Friends

How is everyone? I hope you are all doing well. I haven't updated my blog for about a few weeks. I have been to Thailand - Phuket, Pattaya and Bangkok from 8 June and back home to Australia on 28th of June, 12:30am.

But really, the main reason why I couldn't update my blog was - internet connection in Thailand - especially in Pattaya region was frustrating. People say it is an effect of the tsunami that hit and devastated Thailand on December 26, 2005. It was a distressing experience for me, my husband and also to some of our International Speaker friends and Internet Marketing Entrepreneurs who went to Thailand for Trainings, Workshops and Coachings.

It was indeed a very productive trip and a rich experience to meet people from all over the world - in Thailand for three weeks! Now we have more new friends to include in our lives - friends that contribute to both our happiness and success - now and in the future.

Anyway, the poor internet access was the downside of our trip because we could not fully communicate globally as we would have wanted to. But one thing amusing when I got hold of the laptap and I was able to open my blog.....guess what??? Everything was written in the Thai language!!! And what do you think I did? Switched off the laptap, of course! I couldn't do anything! Can't read one Thai letter, mind you! What an irony, really! But overall, it was a lovely, exciting, fun-filled, entertaining and educational trip to the Land of Elephants, Land of exotic Orchids and Land of Historic Buddhist Temples.

The Kingdom of Thailand has unsurpassed beauty and bounty. It is a place of people full of joy and smiles, welcoming visitors from far away lands with open arms. People are warm and very welcoming to both locals and tourists. They are people who exude inner peace in a secure and relaxed environment.

The month of June being in the rainy season, oftentimes our days were wet yet thrilling amidst the humid temperature that was rather uncomfortable.

In Thailand, we listened to soothing music. It's good for the soul. You learn how to meditate, especially in the temples which we visited with our local Thai friends. We also learned from every experience - good or bad. We accepted what people have to offer. We gave positive messages to others. We made time for ourselves. It is vital to invest in yourself. We laughed often and enjoyed our achievements!

We lived the moment because tomorrow is another day! "Create a good life" ---this is one secret to your happiness.

A Smile

Dear Friends

If you have already downloaded my FREE BONUS - SPECIAL Happiness Report - with this link below,

I mentioned in Chapter 6 - "Moving Towards Happiness" - some strategies to implement and win towards achieving your true happiness.

Strategy # 5 is: TRY TO SMILE THREE TIMES A DAY.

Do you? Maybe not. If three times a day is too much for you, what about once? Remember, today is a new day. Here is something for you.

A Smile

A smile costs nothing, but gives so much. :-) it enriches
those who receive, without making poorer those who
give. :-) It takes but a moment, but the memory of it
sometimes last forever. :-) None is so rich or mighty that
he can get along without it, and none is so poor that he
cannot be made rich by it. :-)

A smile creates happiness in the house, fosters good will in
business, and is the countersign of friendship. :-) It brings
rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the
sad, and it is nature's best antidote for trouble. :-)

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anyone
until it is given away. :-)

Some people are too tired to give you a smile.
Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so
much as he who has no more to give. :-)

Keep smiling! It is good for you!

To your Happiness and Wellbeing!
Letty
